Degree Requirements

In order to be awarded the LL.M. degree, students must acquire 60 credit points (cp):
  • 21 cp from the Basic Courses Modules,
  • 21 cp from the Elective Modules, and
  • 18 cp from the Master's Thesis.
A 1-credit-hour course is worth 1.5 cp, and a 2-credit-hour course is worth 3 cp.

Examinations will be graded according to the following scale:

Excellent An especially superlative performance 16 to 18 points
Very good A performance that is well above average 13 to 15 points
Good An above average performance 10 to 12 points
Satisfactory A performance that in every respect meets average standards 7 to 9 points
Adequate A performance that meets average standards in spite of its deficiencies 4 to 6 points
Deficient A performance that has substantial deficiencies and is no longer completely adequate 1 to 3 points
Completely inadequate A completely inadequate performance 0 points

 

Oehm Prize

The Oehm Prize is awarded to the student with the best overall final grade of each Academic Year. This Prize, which includes a cash award of 500 EUR, is sponsored from a donation generously endowed to MIPLC by Gertrud and Siegfried Oehm.
