BASF AG Funds Scholarship for Chinese MIPLC Student

The agreement was concluded during the recent visit of Prof. Straus, Chair of the MIPLC Managing Board, to BASF where he met with Dr. Hackenberger, President of the Specialty Chemicals Research Division and responsible for the Patent Department.

While MIPLC is most grateful for this generous support and highly appreciates the thereby enabled participation of an accomplished student in the LL.M. IP program, BASF considers this cooperation as an investment with regard to their patent strategy in China.

The supported student is Ms. Bai Jie who holds a Bachelor’s degree in applied chemistry from Tongji University in Shanghai where she was awarded an Excellent Student Scholarship for three years in a row. Since her graduation in 2003 she has been working for the chemical industry in China.

During her studies at MIPLC, Ms. Bai will be in close contact with her sponsor, e.g. by choosing the topic of her Master’s Thesis in accordance with the BASF patent department and by completing her internship there.
