Professional Experience Requirements
All applicants to the MIPLC must have at least one year of full-time relevant professional or scientific experience. This is a legal requirement.
Please note: If your only degree is a three-year Bachelor's degree (180 ECTS credits), you will need at least two years of full-time relevant professional experience!
"Full-time" means that your working time should have been approx. 35 - 40 hours per week. Part-time work will be counted pro-rata.
"Relevant" means that your practical experience should either be related to intellectual property, or to the subject of the qualifying degree. For example, this means that you must have working experience as an engineer if your qualifying degree is in engineering, experience in law if the qualifying degree is in law, and so on.
Apart from actual employment in a paid position, the MIPLC can recognize internships (including such completed outside of study for your qualifying degree, but excluding any mandatory internships that were part of your degree program), work as a research assistant, and the German "Referendariat" as professional experience.
