Professor Dr. Michael Kort

Curriculum Vitae

From 1975 to 1977, Professor Michael Kort, a member of the MIPLC Managing Board, studied law and philosophy in Bochum and continued his law studies in Munich from 1977. After the First State Examination in 1981 an the Second State Examination in 1984 Professor Kort worked in Munich as a lawyer. In 1985 he received his Ph.D. degree in Munich under the supervision of Professor Hueck. After a fixed-term teaching position Professor Kort stayed as a postdoc at the University of California at Berkley for one year in 1988/89. Afterwards he worked as a lawyer in a large international law firm for Commercial Law in Munich from 1989 to 1993. At the same time, starting in 1990, he was a visiting lecturer for Commercial Law and Labour Law at the University of Munich. In 1996 he got the qualification as a university lecturer in Munich. From 1997 to 2002 Professor Kort held the chair of Civil Law, Labour Law, Social Law and Business Law at the Faculty of Law of the Technical University Dresden. Since 2002 Professor Kort has held the chair of Civil Law, Commercial Law, Intellectual Property Law and Labour Law at the Faculty of Law of the University of Augsburg. His research activities center on German, European and International Commercial and Labour Law.
