MIPLC Alumna Appointed to MIPLC Faculty

MIPLC is very pleased to announce the appointment of Isabelle Huys, Class of 2007, to the MIPLC faculty.

Isabelle Huys holds a Ph.D. in pharmaceutical sciences in addition to her LL.M. from the MIPLC. She is Assistant Professor of Patent Law at the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences of the University of Leuven and is affiliated to the Centre for Intellectual Property Rights (CIR) of the University of Leuven, Belgium. Her group focuses on the legal and regulatory strategies that promote access to human biological samples and to diagnostic tools or therapies. In particular, she studies protection by way of intellectual property rights, the legal mechanisms of obtaining access to biological samples and the regulatory pathways involved in drug development.

Professor Huys will supervise one or two Master's theses in the academic year 2012/13 and will in the future start teaching in the field of pharmaceuticals and IP.

MIPLC is very pleased to be able to thus integrate an alumna into its faculty for the first time and hopes to recruit additional alumni to teach in the future.
