Doctoral student Vicente Zafrilla Díaz-Marta gives presentation at (virtual) Annual ASCOLA Conference

Vicente Zafrilla Díaz-Marta works as an early-stage researcher in the European Joint Doctoral (EJD) program "EIPIN Innovation Society". With the support of the MIPLC and the Max Planck Institute for Innovation and Competition, he is writing a doctoral thesis on "Declaration of Standard-essential Patents (SEPs) – Strategic use of IP policies of standard-setting organisations by patent holders" co-hosted by the University of Augsburg, Germany, and the University of Alicante, Spain.

In addition to finishing his Ph.D. thesis, he has co-authored a paper on “Hybridization of Open Standardization Models: Typologies and Competition Law Concerns” with Carlos Muñoz Ferrandis, which he was invited to present at the recent (virtual) ASCOLA conference. ASCOLA, the Academic Society for Competition Law, and its conference are among the most reputed fora for competition law scholars.
