Admissions Overview

Welcome to MIPLC, your path to an exceptional education in intellectual property. Our program offers a comprehensive exploration of all relevant fields of law, with a focus on their interconnectedness. A Completed University or College Degree

To start your studies at the MIPLC, you are required to have attained at least 240 ECTS credits, which are generally equivalent to a four-year Bachelor's degree.


Professional Experience

All applicants to MIPLC are required to have at least one year of full-time professional experience after their first university degree.


English Language Proficiency

Since the program is taught entirely in English, all students are required to have very good knowledge of the English language.

The MIPLC application period is open from December 1 to April 30 for the following academic year.

German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) - EPOS Scholarship Program:

Applicants for the DAAD scholarship for "Development-Related Postgraduate Courses" must apply for both admission to our LL.M. program and the scholarship over a year in advance. The application period is from June 1 to October 15. For more information about the DAAD, please visit their website

Our program fee for the class of 2024/2025 is EUR 39,500 . The fee covers one academic year and is payable to the University of Augsburg, the Technical University of Munich and the Max Planck Institute for Innovation and Competition. The fee is split into three instalments, commencing with a non-refundable guarantee payment due within four weeks after admission, followed by payments for two academic semesters.

The fee includes:

  • An unlimited number of credit hours
  • Tutorial sessions
  • Access to the world's largest IP library at the Max Planck Institute for Innovation and Competition
  • Access to legal databases, including, but not limited to, LexisNexis and Westlaw
  • Printed and photocopied study materials
  • Enrollment at the University of Augsburg and the Technical University of Munich.

Upon successful submission of your application, we initiate a thorough review to ensure its completeness. The duration of this process may vary, ranging from a few days to several weeks, depending on when your application is received.

If your application is complete, it will proceed to evaluation by the Admissions Committee. We follow a rolling admission process, and decisions are typically communicated within two to three weeks.

For incomplete applications, and if the deadline has not yet passed, you have the opportunity to submit any missing items. However, after the deadline, incomplete applications will not be considered for the upcoming academic year. Unfortunately, due to the high volume of applications, we are unable to provide detailed information about missing items.

Fee Waiver Scholarship: Applications for the fee waiver scholarship follow the same evaluation process described above. From all admitted applicants, a shortlist of candidates will be created, and they will be contacted for an interview in May or June. Based on these interviews, the Admissions Committee will select the scholars by the end of June.

 

DAAD Scholarship: Applications for the DAAD scholarship undergo the same evaluation process described above. From all admitted applicants, a shortlist of candidates will be created, and they will be invited for a video conference interview in January or February. Based on these interviews, the MIPLC will pre-select the scholars, and the final decision will be made by the DAAD in early March.
